For those that participated in the launch day release of the Playstation 5 on November 12th, it's hard to forget about how fast some retailers ran out of stock, and other websites crashed in a mad dash to be one of the first people to obtain the new console. Now that the dust has settled for most of the world, most who haven't retrieved their own console are waiting for Black Friday deals or more stock; however, launch day has yet to arrive for Europe.
Considering the lessons that can be learned from the launch day madness that took place last week, there is some hope that European retailers will be able to regulate their online launches in a much more organized way. However, some issues seem to be arising for those that have pre-ordered the console.
A UK retailer by the name of Game has announced that their pre-orders may not reach the buyers on launch day with an official email stating; "Due to the volume of PlayStation 5's in the UK market and the size of the product, the launch has led to UK wide delivery challenges for all retailers and couriers. Our aim has always been to ensure that as many orders arrive on time for release day as possible, therefore, we have had to secure multiple couriers to help try to achieve this." Game continued by stating what may have caused this delay; "However, for reasons beyond the control of Game, Yodel have informed us today (November 18) that not all orders due to be delivered by them will be delivered on release day. This is due to capacity issues in their delivery network and may mean that your tracking information is not fully updated until Friday."
Sadly, there is no confirmation of how many people will be affected by this distribution delay, but hopefully, this is not the beginning of another chaotic launch day. We would love to hear your thoughts on this news in the comments below!
