As we begin to wrap-up the month, Sony has revealed the next batch of free games through PlayStation Plus. As per usual, PS Plus subscribers, regardless of their tier, will receive three free games across PS5 and PS4.
As announced on the PlayStation Blog, the PS Plus lineup for March 2025 features Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Sonic Colors: Ultimate, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection.
The inclusion of Dragon Age: The Veilguard is a huge and welcomed surprise. And also super unexpected given how new it is! Dragon Age: The Veilguard is an action role-playing game developed by BioWare that released in October of last year. Very rarely do we see a game of this magnitude come to PlayStation Plus so soon after its release. However, it's been well-documented that Dragon Age: The Veilguard failed to meet EA's sales expectations, reaching just 1.5 million players by the end of 2024. This is pure speculation on my part, but it's quite possible that given the game's poor sales, EA is simply trying to recoup some of the development costs by striking a deal with Sony.
The fourth major game in the beloved franchise and a sequel to 2014's Dragon Age: Inquisition, the story of The Veilguard follows a customizable player-controlled character named Rook as they form a team of seven diverse companions and embark on an epic journey.
Unite the Veilguard and defy the gods in this immersive single-player RPG where you become the leader others believe in. When a pair of corrupt ancient gods break free from centuries of darkness, the vibrant land of Thedas needs someone they can count on.Rise as Rook, Dragon Age’s newest hero. Be who you want to be and play how you want to play as you fight back and lead your team of seven companions, each with their own rich story. Together you will become The Veilguard.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard received generally positive reveiws, but was subject to review bombing on Metacritic with some users criticizing the game for being "too woke." More legitimate reviews critizied the game's story and "mediocre" writing. Critics were also divided on the game's combat, which some felt was too simple. You'll be able to judge for yourself when Dragon Age: The Veilguard becomes free for PS Plus next month.
Arriving alongside it will be Sonic Colors: Ultimate and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection.
Sonic Colors: Ultimate is a high-speed adventure in which Sonic must help free captured alien "Wisps" who have been used by the evil Dr. Eggman to run his interstellar amusement park. This is a remaster of the original 2010 platformer and features upscaled visuals, additional features, and a new game mode.
