PLAYSTATION: MANEATER Is Being Auto-Refunded After Being Included As A PS Plus Free Game

With the January free games coming to PS Plus, those who recently purchased Maneater have been auto refunded following the confirmation that the game will be included as a free title. Hit the jump for more!

The video game community has been a sea of highs and lows towards the end of the year. From the debacle that has been Cyberpunk 2077 to the soaring heights of games like Ghost of Tsushima, we have seen the very best t and potentially the worst in gaming yet, but this is all par for the course with new console generations, right? Well, it looks like there is at least one more surprise to see 2020 off, and it comes in the most unlikely of places.

As is tradition, each month sees a few lucky games get added to a list of free downloads for Playstation Plus subscribers. Typically these games are at least a few years old of indie so that everyone has a chance to try out the game and the developers get some much-appreciated attention. January's newest additions even include Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Greedfall for PS4 and the shark-themed RPG Maneater for PS5; however, the latter is still a fairly new title.

It appears that Sony is well aware of this as well, and following a recent Reddit post, has confirmed that those who have purchased the game in the last month will receive an automatic refund of the game, seeing as it is now available for free for the month. There has even been confirmation that even if players end their Plus subscription, they will not lose the game. Whether or not this works for anyone who hasn't purchased the game beforehand remains to be seen.

Whether this was an act of good faith or a way to avoid any more heat following their pulling of Cyberpunk 2077, it is a welcome and appreciated surprise nonetheless. Will you be downloading Maneater? We would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!

In the game, the player assumes control of a female bull shark who must evolve and survive in an open world so she can take revenge on a fisherman who disfigured her as a pup and killed her mother.

Maneater will be available as a January free title on Playstation Plus!
