THE LAST OF US Creative Director Reacts To This Familiar-Looking Poster For WHAT STILL REMAINS

The creators of What Still Remains have seemingly decided to take a closer look at another post-apocalyptic thriller, The Last of Us, as the movie's poster is strikingly similar to the game's key art...

What Still Remains is a 2018 American post-apocalyptic thriller written and directed by Josh Mendoza (God's Country, The Incident) that tells the story of a young adult (starring Lauren "Lulu" Antariksa) who loses her family. During her journey through the fallen world, she comes upon a man from a religious commune, played by Colin O'Donoghue (Storage 24, The Euthanizer), who invites her to join them.

The fact that What Still Remains tackles with a well-known subject shouldn't be that surprising, but the movie producers' urge to basically reskin The Last of Us' key art is pretty hilarious. As noticed by Twitter user Rob Trench, the aforementioned posters are remarkably similar to the point that even TLOU Creative Director and Writer Neil Druckmann couldn't believe Gravitas Ventures' insolence.

"Hold on... is this for real?" Druckmann wrote on Twitter. While it's hard to believe that someone out there could think that no one would notice the obvious similarities between those posters, every sane person should remember that The Last of Us also "borrowed" some tropes and ideas from other media (like John Hillcoat's The Road).
