The official trailer for HBO Max's upcoming video game television adaptation, The Last of Us, has arrived online and it's even more intense than we could've imagined as Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) embark on a road trip that promises to change their lives and the future of humanity forever.
The show's first season will seemingly adapt the events of the first game and there are plenty of moments in the trailer that should look and feel very familiar to fans of the blockbuster 2013 video game.
The supporting cast consists of Gabriel Luna as Tommy, Anna Torv as Tess, Nico Parker as Sarah, Murray Bartlett as Frank, Nick Offerman as Bill, Melanie Lynskey as Kathleen, Storm Reid as Riley, Merle Dandridge as Marlene, Jeffrey Pierce as Perry, Lamar Johnson as Henry, Keivonn Woodard as Sam, Graham Greene as Marlon, and Elaine Miles as Florence.
Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker, who play the iconic duo in the acclaimed video game series, will also appear in undisclosed mystery roles.
The Last of Us premieres on January 15.

THE LAST OF US takes place 20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone.
