The Last of Us Part II was revealed almost three years ago, during the PlayStation Experience back in 2016 and, while it hasn't been such a long time since the announcement, players still have no clue when the game will be finally releasing; with some even fearing the game won't be released for the PlayStation 4 at all.
The reason for this is the fact that Naughty Dog has not given us an official release date for the game.In fact, they haven't even given us a release window for the long-awaited
The Last of Us sequel; but they have their reasons, and they are actually quite understandable.
According to
The Last of Us Part II Co-Director Anthony Newman has revealed that the game is close to wrapping up, suggesting that it may be in its final stages of development. According to Newman's tweet, they are currently hiring to "help us close out this game", highlighting that they are particularly looking for a Melee Animator to work on some "dope animations".
Naughty Dog has recently stated that
they will be revealing an official release date for The Last of Us Part II when the time is right, and it seems that that time may now be closer than we think. Hopefully, this means that the game can still end up being released this 2019.
In The Last of Us Part II, Ellie is now 19 and has found a semblance of peace and normality living in Jackson. She’s had a chance to be a teenager and forge lasting relationships. When that peace is disrupted by a violent act, Ellie is thrust into a brutal journey of retribution, fueled by a need to bring those that have wronged her to justice, pushing her to her very limits.
The Last of Us Part II still hasn't been given an official release date.
