There's no denying that
The Last of Us Part II is one of the most anticipated PlayStation 4 games in the Sony system's history. Considering that Naughty Dog's upcoming video game is the direct follow-up to the universally praised title from 2013, expectations are high, and while
Chapter II was formally announced over two years ago, it's still unclear when the story-driven experience actually launches.
Taking into account that
Chapter II's apparent release dates are being "leaked" on a daily basis and no one really knows which one is the right one, Naughty Dog's Community Manager Arne Meyer recently took to Twitter to get things straight. In a short response to the satirical website Onion's article that
The Last of Us: Part II is launching this year, Meyer explained that while he "
can't say much," the Santa Monica-based game developer will "
put new things out when it [TLoUC2] and we are ready."
The fact that Sony won't be holding their annual E3 media briefing this year suggests that
Chapter II's official release date won't be announced anytime soon. Given that the so-called next-gen consoles will reportedly be releasing in mid-2020, we wouldn’t be surprised if
TLoUC2 is PlayStation 5's launch title.
In The Last of Us Part II, Ellie is now 19 and has found a semblance of peace and normality living in Jackson. She’s had a chance to be a teenager and forge lasting relationships. When that peace is disrupted by a violent act, Ellie is thrust into a brutal journey of retribution, fueled by a need to bring those that have wronged her to justice, pushing her to her very limits.
The Last of Us Part II 's release date hasn't been announced yet.
