No matter how one may feel about The Last of Us Part II, it is undeniable that Naughty Dog's recently released title has been giving people a lot to talk about. The game has had a rather controversial reception from fans, but this hasn't stopped players from purchasing and experiencing it for themselves.
In fact, not a week after the game had released worldwide, PlayStation officially announced that Naughty Dog's fairly divisive title had managed to sell over an overwhelming 4 million units; three days after it became available, to be more precise.
Today, and surprising absolutely no one, the official PlayStation Blog revealed that The Last of Us Part II had managed to position itself in the number one spot on the PlayStation Store in the United States, Canada, and Europe; in spite of all the controversy surrounding it.
As mentioned above, The Last of Us Part II's reception from fans was rather mixed and leaning to negative, and this was actually happening even before the game had officially released; the information about the game that was leaked ahead of the release didn't seem to affect pre-orders, though.
This information comes from PlayStation, but they didn't reveal exactly how many units the game managed to sell in June; considering that the game was released on the 19th, and by the 21st it had already sold 4 million copies in both physical and digital form.
It will be definitely interesting to see how The Last of us Part II does in the coming months — in terms of sales, of course — and how much the game was able to sell during the month of June, or whether it will still come out on top in July; once Sucker Punch's Ghost of Tsushima launches next week.
