Harvest Moon is a role-playing farming simulator initially released for the Super Nintendo in 1996 and is the first game in the
Story of Seasons series. Since its release in the 90s, the game has seen several iterations for a lot of different platforms, being the last one on the Nintendo 3DS with
Harvest Moon: The Tale of Two Towns.
After a long hiatus,
Harvest Moon is finally back on PlayStation since the last game released for a Sony console was
Harvest Moon: Hero of Leaf for the PSP in 2010, and prior to that on the PlayStation 2 with
Harvest Moon: Another Wonderful Life Special Edition back in 2005.
Harvest Moon: Light of Hope Special Edition is launching exclusively for the PlayStation 4 on the
29th of May. According to the official PlayStation Blog, one of the things that drove the developers to make this game was making it more accessible for newcomers to the series, but still familiar enough for veterans.
The developers wanted to focus on designing the game to be the perfect entry to the series for newcomers and, in order to do that, they made sure that "
hard work leads to great rewards," but also wanted to differentiate it from tedious tasks. That's why they developed a more intuitive tool system that doesn't recquire players to go over the entire inventory to do a simple task.
As a new feature,
Harvest Moon: Light of Hope Special Edition will also include a Co-op mode and take on the role of the Gem Sprite Soleil. The game is currently available for pre-order on the PS Store and includes a Season Pass, as well as the game at a discount for a limited time.
