Is there ever anything as humbling as seeing an old man play video games better than you?
Koei Tecmo CEO and president Yoichi Erikawa took center stage at the recently wrapped Tokyo Game Show 2016 and displayed his impressive skills at the publisher's upcoming action-adventure release, Nioh.
The game follows real-life historical figure
William Adams, and English sailor who accidentially landed in Japan in the 1600s and became the nation's first, Western Samurai. Adams will actually be Irish for the purposes of the video game.
Of note, the game has been in development since 2004 and is based on an unfinished Akira Kurosawa script for a movie titlled Oni. The game was actually slated to be one of the early launch titles for the PS3 but a lengthy development cycle has led to the game's release on the PlayStation 4.
ABOUT NIOH
In Nioh, players will traverse war-torn Japan as William, a blonde-haired swordsman whose background as a fierce warrior and seasoned knowledge of the blade allows him to survive in the demon-plagued land of the samurai. Known as Yokai, these demons inhabit a number of dangerous locations and lie in wait in the shadows to ambush unsuspecting victims. Players will also face off with other samurai in supernatural sword battles and intense, multi-target engagements offering a level of difficulty that will truly test even the most hardened samurai's skills, patience, and strategy.
