Today CD Projekt RED released some new information about the highly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077, including a brand-new trailer that gave us a glimpse of gameplay, some of the characters, and the game's breathtakingly beautiful city.
The developers weren't done giving fans surprises, as they announced that a brand-new anime series set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077 is currently in development, and is expected to begin streaming on Netflix in 2022 — so fans wil lstill have to wait a little bit longer for the series to release.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is actually a spin-off series, that will be set in a different location within Cyberpunk 2077's Night City, and will be produced by Studio Trigger; who anime fans will know for the critically praised Kill la Kill series.
As revealed by the announcement made by CD Projekt RED, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners will see Yoh Yoshinari in charge of character designs, and Hiroyuki Imaishi as the series' director. It was also revealed that this new anime series will consist of 10 episodes, and will focus on a street kid surviving in Night City.
Much information about Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was not really revealed, so we will have to keep our eyes peeled for any future announcements. Considering that the series is expected to release in 2022, it will be a while before we hear more news about the series.
