Get ready for more vehicular carnage. Peacock announced that Season 2 of Twisted Metal, the live-action adaptation of PlayStation's beloved video game franchise, will premiere this Summer.

The announcement was shared alongside the first teaser trailer for Season 2, which highlights the highly anticipated tournament that the video game franchise is known form.

Although the first season of Twisted Metal was met with mostly positive reviews from critics and fans, it served as more of an introductory to the Twisted Metal universe. The adaptation featured an original, humorous and action-packed storyline that follows Anthony Mackie's John Doe -- an amnesiac and motor-mouthed delivery driver -- on a mission to deliver a mysterious package halfway across the post-apocalyptic United States. And while there was plenty of car carnage, it wasn't in the form of a deadly tournament hosted by Calypso.

Not to spoil too much though, but the ending of Season 1 strongly alluded that the vehicular combat tournament is coming and the Season 2 trailer confirms it.

Following the revelations in the season one finale, John and Quiet find themselves entering the deadly TWISTED METAL tournament, a sinister demolition derby hosted by a mysterious man known as Calypso. As they try to survive an onslaught of dangerous new foes and familiar faces alike, including the murderous clown Sweet Tooth, things get complicated for John when he reunites with his long-lost sister, the vigilante Dollface.

Anthony Mackie and Stephanie Beatriz will back as reluctant allies turned lovers John Doe and Quiet, while Samoa Joe and Will Arnett return as Sweet Tooth. Somoa Joe portrays the deranged clown on screen while Arnett provides the voice.

The core cast will be joined by multiple newcomers, including Anthony Carrigan (Barry), Richard de Klerk (Strange Empire), Patty Guggenheim (She-Hulk: Attorney at Law), and Tiana Okoye (Mrs. Davis). Michael James Shaw (The Walking Dead), Saylor Bell Curda (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series) and Lisa Gilroy (Interior Chinatown) were also recently added to the cast as recurring guest stars.

We don't know who exactly each of these new cast members will play in the upcoming season, but the Season 2 trailer teased many fan-favorite characters from the video game, including Dollface and Mr. Grimm. If you watched until the end, you also saw the sneak peek of Axel, the fearless driver with giant monster truck tires for hands.

Season 2 of Twisted Metal certainly looks to pack an explosive punch and we'll hopefully learn more about the upcoming season and its new characters as we get closer to its premiere. One character that showrunner Michael Jonathan Smith was excited about bringing to life on screen was Mr. Grimm.

"I'm excited to capture what the fans are excited about seeing, but also [to answer the question of]: 'How does he exist in the world we've set up?'" he said in a previous interview with NBC Insider. "I think there's just going to be a lot of fun with him — what kind of character he is in this world and how does he interact with people like Sweet Tooth?"
