Tom Clancy's The Division is an online-only first person shooter set in an open world Manhattan with destructive environments where your mission is to restore the order by investigating where the virus is coming from.
Players can earn experience points, as well as currency that can be used to buy new, and better weapons and hone their talents by using the experience points.
The game was initially announced in 2013 as a consoles exclusive. Wanting to test some ground Ubisoft started asking PC users, via polls, whether they'd be interested in the game and
The Division eventually was developed for PC alongside the console versions. Tom Clancy's The Division finally came out in 2016 getting positive reviews overall.
On June 2016 a movie for
The Division was announced with Stephen Gaghan(
Gold) attached to the project as both, director and writer.
The movie would see actors Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Chastain as the main protagonists, although not much is known about the plot or how closely based on the game it will be.
Gaghan has since stepped down and will be replaced by
Deadpool 2 director David Leitch. The report came from
Variety that mention their sources have confirmed that Leitch is officially on board and he will also be producing the movie alongside Jake Gyllenhaal, who has been attached to the project since its announcement as producer and actor.
Currently, David Leitch is also attached to the
Fast and Furious spin-off movie so it is uncertain which movie will he be helming first as no more details were revealed but it is likely that production on
The Division will begin at some point next year.
