Nintendo has finally announced the release date for the long-awaited and highly-anticipated sequel to the much-acclaimed 2017 Nintendo Switch game, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Though yesterday's Nintendo Direct showcase didn't quite have as much to offer as fans were expecting, the biggest reveal bar none was that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild's sequel will be coming to Nintendo's changeable console on May 12th, 2023. What's more, the game will in fact be titled: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
The final trailer of the recent Nintendo Direct showed off some brief snippets of gameplay and cinematics from the upcoming video game, including shots of Link taking to the skies of Hyrule atop a winged bird made of stone and the return of the hero's Rune abilities. Check out the trailer for yourself below (via Nintendo):
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom: In addition to the vast lands of Hyrule, the latest entry in the storied Legend of Zelda series will take you up into the skies and an expanded world that goes beyond that! Look forward to Link’s massive adventure starting again when The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, drops for Nintendo Switch on May 12, 2023.
Additionally, the game's key art was revealed not long after the Direct showcase featuring the Link perched on the edge of a floating island above the titular kingdom. It looks as though this art will serve as the cover of the game as well.
