The recent announcement of
Halo: The Master Chief Collection coming to PC has ignited hope among players that
Halo 5: Guardians could also find its way to Steam and the Microsoft Store one day. While the collection is indeed headed to PC featuring
Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2: Anniversary, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo: REACH, and
Halo 4 (Microsoft won't launch all the games at once, but will roll out only one title at a time),
Halo 5: Guardians won't be included – and it will likely stay that way.
During an AMA session on Reddit, 343 Industries' Community Director said that the studio's "
focus is bringing MCC [The Master Chief Collection] and [Halo:] Reach to PC, there are no current plans to bring over Halo 5 [Guardians]." Considering that
Guardians is still the biggest Xbox One exclusive out there (at least until the launch of
Gears 5 and
Halo: Infinite), the decision is quite understandable.
Quite interestingly,
Halo: Infinite is also coming to PC (with Windows 10), so it looks like
Guardians will be the only
Halo game that won't be playable on PC, as even the franchise's last big-budget spin-off,
Halo Wars 2, has a dedicated PC version. Even without
Guardians,
Halo: The Master Chief Collection will launch with a total of 67 campaign missions plus more than 120 multiplayer maps. Check it out:
