In December,
The Darkness, The Bureau: XCOM Declassified and
Duke Nukem Forever were collectively added to Xbox One Backward Compatibility, and now Codemasters revealed the first game that will join the subscription service in January -
FUEL, one of the biggest open-world racing games of all time which used to be a "Longest Draw Distance In A Racing Videogame" Guinness World Record laureate.
FUEL’s enormous racing environment is inspired by the North American wilderness and allows gamers a view of recognizable landmarks including Death Valley and Mount Rushmore. The landscape, modelled from satellite data and rendered by the game engine, is battered by weather effects including blizzards, tsunamis and tornadoes, boasting its impressive draw distance of 40 km (24.8 miles).
Codemasters has announced that
FUEL will be coming to Xbox Backwards Compatibility January 10th. Although the title failed to become a huge sales hit upon release, it ultimately gained a cult following with thousands of fans traversing
FUEL's vast world with little to no boundaries.
FUEL's also supporting a competitive multiplayer mode for 2-16 players and a co-op multiplayer mode supporting 2-4 players.
Set in an alternative present where the world had been wrecked by the effects of climate change, FUEL focussed on extreme racing on an epic scale. Featuring an ambitious 5,000 square miles for players to explore (a Guinness World Record at the time), racers were pitted against fearsome weather in buggies, trucks, and an assortment of fierce-looking off-road vehicles. FUEL also gave players a chance to collect tonnes of unlockables from around the world’s huge map, including vehicles, skins, helmets, and driver clothing. Supporting a competitive multiplayer mode for 2-16 players, and a co-op multiplayer mode supporting 2-4 players, the title flourished online.
FUEL raced onto PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC in 2009.
