Director Of Programming for Xbox Live Larry Hryb has confirmed that two beloved video games that debuted back in 2011 –
From Dust and
Costume Quest – are now backward compatible on Xbox One.
Since the official announcement of the much-desired Xbox One backward compatibility feature in 2015, the Microsoft team has added hundreds of high-profile Xbox 360 games and dozens of original Xbox games to the ever-expanding list of older video games playable on XO. What's even better, if you already own any of those last-gen titles, you can play them on your Xbox One at no additional charge.
At its core,
From Dust is a slightly modernized
Populous-like god sim, allowing you to take care of a small group of primitive survivors who try to find their new home. As their savior, you control water, earth, and other elements facing down tsunamis, wildfires, earthquakes, and torrential rains.
The other title,
Costume Quest, a brainchild of Tim Shafer and Double Fine Productions, is all about choosing your hero and trick-or-treat through three beautiful Halloween-themed environments.
From Dust is the latest original game concept by Eric Chahi, creator of the cult classic, “Another World / Out of this World”. Immerse yourself in a world as exotically beautiful as it is dangerous! You control the destiny of a primitive tribe against the backdrop of a world in constant evolution—a universe where mighty Nature reclaims what is hers; and your mastery of the elements is your people’s only chance of survival...
Costume Quest is a Halloween adventure from Tim Schafer's Double Fine Productions. In this charming role-playing game, choose your hero and trick-or-treat through three beautiful environments full of Double Fine humor and story. Complete quests, build your party, and collect costumes along the way that allow you to transform into powerful champions and take down the evil Repugians. This heroic holiday tale will capture the imaginations of kids and kids-at-heart.
