X018 was filled with exciting news for some of Microsoft's biggest Xbox and PC games. That includes
Sea of Thieves, which will be receiving its fifth free content update in early 2019. Titled
The Arena, the update will introduce an all-new competitive mode that pits crew against crew in a race to find treasure. A trailer was shown during the event, giving us a glimpse at some of the fast-paced action that awaits us on the open seas.
"Each match is a fun, frenetic and action-packed race to find treasure that brings together all the most exciting elements of Sea of Thieves – on demand," Microsoft teases.
The update will also introduce a new tavern area along with a new Trading Company - the Sea Dogs. With these additions come new goals, rewards, and opportunities to progress to Pirate Legend.

Sea of Thieves is an action-adventure game developed by Rare exclusively for Xbox One and Windows 10. Despite incredible hype leading up to its release, the game was met with mixed reception mostly due to the lack of content at launch. Since its release, though, the game has received numerous updates that have increased the overall experience. The Arena will continue to build upon the open world when it arrives in early 2019.
