A decade ago, Ubisoft was trying really hard to expand its Tom Clancy empire. Clancy, the late novelist of megahit books like Patriot Games, The Hunt for Red October, and The Sum of All Fears, sold his name to Ubisoft in 2008, giving the French publisher a chance to create even more games with his famous name on it. With no doubt, The Division is the biggest highlight of the post-agreement era.
But long before The Division, there were two smaller projects that are now sadly forgotten by Ubisoft. One was released on November 4, 2008 and tried to revolutionize the way you play strategy games. Ubisoft Shanghai's Tom Clancy's EndWar was not a traditional PC release, as it was also available for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 allowing a player to give vocal commands to battle units.
The other one, Ubisoft Bucharest's H.A.W.X. (aka "High-Altitude Warfare" [we're still not sure where the "X" fit into things]) launched a year later to mostly positive reviews. The arcade flight title was focused on exploring real world locations in environments created with commercial satellite data. H.A.W.X. was also is set in the same universe as Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter.
Xbox One owners will finally have a chance to check out Tom Clancy's X.A.W.X. and EndWar on their console, as both titles are now backwards compatible. Since announcing its backwards compatibility feature, Microsoft has added hundreds of Xbox 360 games and dozens of original Xbox games to the list. If you already own either game you can play it on your Xbox One at no additional charge.
