If you were one of the many gamers who purchased or received an Xbox One for Christmas, you certainly can't be pleased by the recent announcement that Scalebound has been cancelled. Specifically, fans of the RPG action-adventure variety don't exactly have a lot of options on the Xbox One, especially in comparision to the titles currently available and forthcoming on the PlayStation 4.
Platinum Games CEO Kenichi Sato acknowledged the studio's failuer in the letter below, while promising that the company's Playstation 4, PC 2017 release - NieR: Automata would be a high-quality release.
Regarding the Cancellation of Scalebound
We’re sorry to say that on January 9, 2017, Microsoft Studios announced the cancellation of Scalebound. We are very disappointed things ended up this way, especially since we know many of our fans were looking forward to this game as much as we were.
Going forward, we will strive to continue delivering high-quality games to you, starting with NieR:Automata in March, and including products like GRANBLUE FANTASY Project Re:Link and LOST ORDER in the future.
We will keep working hard to meet your expectations and we look forward to your continued support!

If you're a PS4 owner, and given Platinum's recent troubles, are you still planning to pre-order NieR or are you waiting for reviews and word-of-mouth before making a ~$60 commitment?
