Batman: Arkham Origins developer Warner Bros. Games Montréal is gearing up for what seems like an announcement of a new Batman game.
In celebration of the Caped Crusader's 80th anniversary, Warner Bros. Games Montréal took to Twitter and for the first time in four years, posted a tweet. The tweet consisted of a cryptic 21-second video that focused on the bat signal, but hidden in the video were flashes of mysterious symbols.
Many interpret this to be a teaser for a new Batman game announcement that will likely come this week at Sony's State of Play, a video livestream dedicated to “new game reveals, new content from PlayStation’s Worldwide Studios, and a host of other updates."
As for the contents of the teaser video, the symbols are believed to be in reference to the Head of the Demon, Ra's al Ghul, and the Court of Owls, an organized crime group that trains assassins.
Warner Bros. Games Montréal is responsible for one of the four mainline games in the Batman: Arkham franchise. They developed 2013's Arkham Origins, a prequel that takes place about five years before Batman: Arkham Asylum. Rocksteady developed the other three games in the mainline series: Arkham Asylum (2009), Arkham City (2011) and Arkham Knight (2015).
