Many players will be able to remember how perfect everything about No Man's Sky sounded when the game was first announced; promoted as a procedurally generated multiplayer game that allowed players to explore the universe alongside their friends.
Then No Man's Sky was released, and it was a complete mess; doing away with the multiplayer component that was so heavily promoted, and feeling like an incomplete game with numerous glitches that constantly stunted the experience for players.
Since the initial backlash, Hello Games took a break from social media, particularly founder and game director Sean Murray, but little did players know that the developers were working hard to finally give players what they had initially paid for.
It is now almost four years later, and No Man's Sky is now the game that the developers had initially promised. As if that wasn't enough, Hello Games has actually added even more things that make No Man's Sky a unique game that brims with appealing content.
Today, Hello Games' Sean Murray has got even more great news for the game's loyal fanbase, as he reveals that No Man's Sky will be joining Game Pass as soon as tomorrow, Thursday the 11th of June, for millions of Xbox One and PC players subscribed to the service to enjoy the game.
This update is also coinciding with the release of No Man's Sky on Windows 10, and there is actually quite a few surprises that the developers have included in this soon-to-be-released update.
For starters, and what is likely the biggest addition to the game, No Man's Sky will no be fully supporting cross-platform multiplayer gameplay, which means that PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and now PC players will be able to play online with their friends or random people.
According to the update's patch notes, players will easily be able to identify other players from their own platform with a handy icon of their platform of choice, while players from other platforms will be identifiable by a controller icon. Players can now also be matched in Ambient Multiplayer, space, other planets, and even on the Space Anomaly.
No Man's Sky is also allowing players to make friends online by making use of quick interactions that can help them create groups and/or invite players to an already existing group; making things easier for everyone, as this also allows players to easily add other players to their friend list.
This isn't, however, the only way players have to add friends, since they can also do it the old-fashion way and ask for their friends' codes — which can be added at any other time; no need to have them log in whenever you want to add them.
Should you happen to own a VR set, Hello Games has also taken the time to enhance the experience for No Man's Sky players. While there isn't much to the enhancements themselves, they do make the experience feel more realistic than before — such ass camera height now reflecting the player's real in-game height, allowing players to see their own bodies, and improving hand tracking accuracy.
Don't believe that Hello Games is done with No Man's Sky just yet, as Sean Murray himself reveals that the development team is currently working on even more content and updates for the game, and that their journey isn't over; hoping that the community enjoys these new features the team worked so hard on.
Sean Murray's post on the official Hello Games website for No Man's Sky reads as follows:
A tremendous amount of work has gone into this update and the underlying technology and systems. We’ve moved to an entirely new networking architecture, with more flexibility for the future, allowing players to play together regardless of platform. I’m very proud of the team that has worked so hard to make this happen.
Meanwhile we are continuing to work hard on new content updates, large and small for the future.
Making No Man’s Sky available to vast new audiences, and allowing those audiences to come together, has been something we’ve been building towards for a long time. We’re lucky to have one of the nicest and most welcoming gaming communities there is, and it’s a delight to be able to allow them to play together. The big question is, who have you always wanted to play with?
Our journey continues.
All in all, tomorrow's update is definitely a pleasant surprise for No Man's Sky players, but given that the update's patch notes are way too lengthy to share here, we encourage you to visit Hello Games' official website by clicking right here, and see for yourself what's in store.
