NBA 2K17 Reveals Participating Teams In Its Inaugural eLeague

Lebron James' Cleveland Cavaliers and Steph Curry's Golden State Warriors are two of the seventeen NBA teams participating in the NBA 2K eSports league that will debut in 2018.

We reported back in February that the NBA was looking to launch an official eSports league and today, their partnership with 2K Sports and Take-Two Interactive was made official.  There are seventeen NBA teams that will participate during the 2017-2018 NBA season, including the :
  1. Detroit Pistons
  2. Cleveland Cavaliers
  3. Minnesota Timberwolves
  4. Golden State Warriors
  5. Boston Celtics
  6. Dallas Mavericks
  7. Indiana Pacers
  8. Memphis Grizzlies
  9. Miami Heat
  10. Milwaukee Bucks
  11. New York Knicks
  12. Orlando Magic
  13. Philadelphia 76ers
  14. Portland Trailblazers
  15. Sacramento Kings
  16. Toronto Raptors
  17. Utah Jazz
  18. Washington Wizards
NBA commissioner Adam Silver previously stated that the plan was for all 30 NBA teams to eventually participate.  Each NBA franchise will select 5 gamers in their market to represent them.  Details on how these 5 gamers will be chosen are currently being kept under wraps.

"This is the first step in what promises to be an extraordinary league, bringing together the world’s best gamers and showcasing elite competition on an international stage,” said Brendan Donohue, the managing director of the esports league.
