When
Mario Kart Tour was released last month for iOS and Android devices, Nintendo's new mobile game immediately became a hit; having been downloaded
over 20 million times within 24 hours since its release.
Without taking away from the game, it is also important to mention that
Mario Kart Tour is a free-to-start title; meaning that it is free to download and play, but players need to grid to get better items, or simply pay real money to obtain them via loot boxes.
Still,
Mario Kart Tour is a fun racing game that caters to casual and regular players, and the latest information shared online has revealed that the game has turned in quite a profit for Nintendo.
According to the information revealed by Sensor Tower,
Mario Kart Tour has already been downloaded an impressive 123.9 million times within the month after its release.
The information also compares the racing game to other popular Nintendo titles released on mobile like
Super Mario Run and
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp; with the former being downloaded 21.8 million times, and the latter being downloaded 19.1 million times.
As if that wasn't enough,
Mario Kart Tour has already made Nintendo an equally impressive $37.4 USD million in player spending; again, all thanks to microtransactions and loot boxes. To better illustrate, the game had already made 1 million within the first 24 hours since it launched; meaning that it has been making more than 1 million a day, in average, since its worldwide launch on the 25th of September.
