Battle hardened Pokémon Trainers are no stranger to Pokémon Day which falls on February 27th each year. The day is a celebration in commemoration of the release of the two titles that started it all -
Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green. Though these games were released all the way back in 1996 the tradition of celebrating pocket monsters continues today - or we should say,
tomorrow.
Niantic never misses an opportunity to hold an event in their massively popular mobile title
Pokémon Go, and this holiday is no exception. As of yesterday the developer began releasing a horde of creatures into the game wearing festive party hats. These creatures also have the chance of being shiny and include Pikachu and Eevee in the wild and Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle in Raids. This event goes until March 2nd, and Trainers will also be able to complete up to two Special Trades a day during this time.
In addition to the above mentioned creatures, Niantic will also be rolling out both Gengar and Nidorino in their very own party hats. Both of these creatures will be in Raids, 4-Star and 2-Star respectively, while Gengar will know Lick and Psychic. The chance of capturing shiny versions of these pocket monsters is also available for any hunters out there. These two will be featured on Sunday, March 1st, from 2 pm to 5 pm local time. More information is listed below, courtesy of
Pokémon Go Live.
-
Nidorino wearing party hats will be appearing in two-star raids.
-
Gengar that know Lick and Psychic and are wearing party hats will be appearing in four-star raids.
-
If you’re lucky, you might encounter a Shiny Nidorino or a Shiny Gengar wearing a party hat!
-
You can receive up to five Raid Passes at no cost during the event by spinning Photo Discs at Gyms. You cannot hold more than one of these Raid Passes at once, and they will not be available after the event ends.
