This year, Niantic's Pokemon Go mobile game celebrated the Pokemon Go Fan Fest. This event sees players from all around the world, participating in what has become one of the fastest-growing mobile games of all time.
Pokemon Go allows players to go outside and try to find and capture Pokemon through their phone, in the real world. Once they have a team, they can even battle against other trainers in gyms or walk with their companion and eventually gather enough resources to help it grow stronger or even evolve.
This recent fan fest saw huge numbers from players that include nearly 1 billion Pokemon caught, over 58 million Team Go Rocket members, 55 million gifts sent, and almost 15 kilometers walked between each active trainer! Even during the world's current climate, fas still found a way to enjoy the world around them and make the best of everything.
With numbers like these, who knows what next year will hold for the game! We would love to hear your thoughts or experiences in the comments below!
Pokémon Go is a free smartphone app that combines gaming with the real world. The game uses location tracking and mapping technology to create an 'augmented reality' where players catch and train Pokémon characters in real locations.
