LEGO STAR WARS BATTLES Is Re-Releasing As An Apple Arcade Exclusive

LEGO Star Wars Battles, a previously failed mobile real-time strategy game is getting a second chance on Apple Arcade. Hit the jump to learn more about this intriguing game that blends the Star Wars eras.

LEGO Star Wars Battles, a mobile real-time strategy game from TT Games Brighton and Warner Bros. Games, is getting a second chance thanks to Apple Arcade. It's being marketed as "new, action strategy" game despite the fact that LEGO Star Wars Battles had previously soft-launched in a few countries in 2019 and eventually shut down this past summer.

For those unfamiliar, LEGO Star Wars Battles is actually an intriguing game, blending iconic characters, vehicles, and locations from all eras of Star Wars with real-time, multiplayer battles. In it, you can mix and match characters and vehicles to create squads in an attempt to defeat the enemy opponent in a 1v1 match.

From Star Wars: The Clone Wars to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, you'll be able to collect iconic heroes and villains from both the light and dark side of the Force. Luke Skywalker, Rey, Obi-Wan Kenboi, Boba Fett, and Darth Vader are only some of the iconic characters you can collect for your army to fight alongside porgs, stormtroopers, battle droids, and more. The light and dark side forces have their own play style, adding an additional layer of strategy to building your army. As you play and level up, you can unlock different battle arenas based on familiar Star Wars locations, such as Scarif, Naboo, Hoth, Endor, and more.

“Our team has been working to bring mobile players a new and wholly original LEGO Star Wars experience, exclusively on Apple Arcade,” said Jason Avent, Studio Head, TT Games Brighton. “LEGO Star Wars Battles blends real-time multiplayer matches, striking visuals and the charm of LEGO Star Wars in fun, fast-paced gameplay.”

It's unclear why LEGO Star Wars Battles didn't originally survive, but players were met with an unceremonious in-game message in game that warned the servers were being shut down on July 1. The concept seems intriguing enough so hopefully it can find success on Apple Arcade where there are no in-app purchases or GACHA mechanics.

LEGO Star Wars Battles doesn't yet have a release date, but is said to be coming "soon" exclusively to Apple Arcade. It will be playable across Apple's line of devices including iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV as long as you have a subscription to Apple Arcade, which can be had for just $4.99.
