Have you ever dreamed of being a real life super hero? Well, thanks to developer Niantic, those dreams are about to become a reality.

The studio, best known for bringing Pokemon to real life with Pokemon GO, is now developing a similar game in which youll patrol the neighborhood to fight off crime. You'll do so as your very own, custom-created super hero.

It's unclear how in-depth the hero customization will be, but it'll likely involve selecting your own super power. In the trailer, we see three heroes with augmented powers. One is a Master of the Mystic Arts like Dr. Strange, another wielding Mjölnir like the God of Thunder Thor, and another emitting beams of energy from his eyes like Cyclops.

Specific gameplay details were not revealed, but the core mechanics will likely be inspired by that of Pokemon GO. As you patrol the neighborhood, you'll likely come across criminals and interdimensional threats that you'll have to stop. As you complete these Super Hero missions, you'll level up, unlocking equipment and abilities.

Although you'll be your own original super hero, you will be able to team up with Marvel Super Heroes such as Spider-Man, Wolverine, Captain America and others to battle iconic Super Villains and save the Multiverse.

MARVEL World of Heroes is Niantic's latest AR mobile game that brings the iconic Marvel Universe into the real world.

Naturally, a game like MARVEL World of Heroes will be multiplayer. There's the liklihood of having to team up with others to defeat particularly dangerous foes, similar to what we see with Raid bosses in Pokemon GO.

MARVEL World of Heroes is set to launch globally in 2023. However, you can pre-register now to stay up to date on the game's progress and when it's available in your country. The game will enter a soft launch soon and will be available in limited markets for beta testing. During this soft launch period, Niantic will be gathering feedback from testers.

Niantic is best known for the massively popular AR game Pokemon GO which released during the summer of 2016. Since then, the developer has released multiple AR games but has struggled to find similar success. Harry Potter: Wizards Unite was releasead in June 2019 but was shut down earlier this year. Transformers: Heavy Metal was in development but was canceled before it ever released. Here's hoping the popularity of Marvel and the excitement of becoming your own superhero leads to MARVEL World of Heroes being the next big hit.
