As promised, EA has shared the first trailer for
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order during this year's Star Wars Celebration in Chicago. Before we dive in all-new details on Respawn Entertainment’s upcoming third-person action adventure game, it's important to note that EA has officially confirmed that the highly anticipated
Star Wars game will launch on November 15, 2019 on Xbox One, PS4 and PC via Origin.
In
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, you will take on the role of Cal Kestis, a young Padawan brought to life by Cameron Monaghan (
Shameless, Gotham’s Joker), who has miraculously managed to survive Order 66, the brutal Jedi purge that took place right after Supreme Chancellor Palpatine became the Emperor.
As Cal, you will try to pick up the pieces of his shattered past to complete his Jedi training – but the quest won't be easy, as the Empire and its Inquisitors will do their best to kill the hero. The Second Sister, who was previously seen in Charles Soule’s
Darth Vader comics series, will be one of the deadly Inquisitors. “
Many Star Wars fans, ourselves included, are really interested in the dark times, so we wanted to explore that mysterious, dangerous period,” Game Director Stig Asmussen explained.
“
The team at Lucasfilm have been amazing collaborators, helping us explore and further develop this part of the timeline where the Empire is at the height of its power and any remaining Jedi are in hiding," Asmussen said. "
Within this narrative, we’ve crafted a game with intense, thoughtful and fun melee combat using the lightsaber and Force powers, allowing anyone to fulfill their Jedi fantasy.”
According to Respawn, "
Fallen Order is designed with gameplay as a top priority in order to deliver the kind of intense Star Wars lightsaber battles that are seen in the films," bringing the new title a little bit closer to LucasArts' cult-classic
Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy and
The Force Unleashed.
