Today, Square Enix announced that
Just Cause 4 has gone gold, which means that the pre-launch development phase has ended and the game is basically ready to hit stores. Naturally, Avalanche Studios won't stop working on the title, but will instead focus on the post-launch support, fixing the most notable bugs, and preparing a day-one patch that will eliminate the biggest technical issues.
According to Square,
Just Cause 4 will be the main hero’s biggest adventure yet, as unstoppable Rico Rodrigues' next journey will begin on December 4, 2018. This time, Rico will face the private militia within the fictional homeland of Solis - The Black Hand. The paramilitary organization is led by the ruthless and determined Gabriela Morales, Rico Rodriguez's toughest opponent so far.
Thanks to the power of the Apex engine,
Just Cause 4 is capable of creating huge landscapes and extreme weather simulations, not to mention enhanced physics, and it looks like the sandbox will be a perfect palate cleanser after
Red Dead Redemption 2 and
Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Square Enix has also revealed an expansion pass trailer which doesn't tell us a whole lot about upcoming DLCs:
Welcome to Solis, a huge South American world home of conflict, oppression and extreme weather conditions. Just Cause 4 sees rogue hero Rico Rodriguez land in Solis to hunt down the truth about his past, at any costs. Strap into your wingsuit, equip your fully customizable grappling hook, and get ready to bring the thunder!
Just Cause 4 will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on December 4, 2018.
