A Look At Near-Final PC Code For JUST CAUSE 4 Indicates It's A Substantial Upgrade Over JUST CAUSE 3

Upon its release, Just Cause 3 received mixed reviews, as the majority of critics and players loudly complained about its performance issues, particularly on the console versions of the game. To avoid the same problems in the upcoming Just Cause 4, Avalanche Studios has decided to leave the old Avalanche Engine behind and build their new and more powerful Apex Engine from scratch.

According to Digital Foundry, the change is Just Cause 4's performance is clear, with some major improvements in visuals, frame-rate, stability and load times that have been made on all platforms. Digital Foundry’s Richard Leadbetter goes even further, calling Just Cause 4's pre-release build a "real technical achievement" with overall performance that is an improvement over the previous game.

It's especially impressive taking into account that Avalanche's Just Cause 4 will feature incredible extreme weather simulations (including treacherous tornadoes and tropical lightning storms) in a fully physicalized sandbox. It looks like Just Cause 4 will be a perfect palate cleanser after this year's more realistic juggernauts such as Red Dead Redemption 2 and Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Take a look:

Welcome to Solis, a huge South American world home of conflict, oppression and extreme weather conditions. Just Cause 4 sees rogue hero Rico Rodriguez land in Solis to hunt down the truth about his past, at any costs. Strap into your wingsuit, equip your fully customizable grappling hook, and get ready to bring the thunder!

Just Cause 4 will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on December 4, 2018.
