During the Back to Hogwarts 2024 Showcase today, Warner Bros. Games announced LEGO Harry Potter Collection, a remastered compilation featuring LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 and LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7.

The LEGO Harry Potter games were released back in 2010 and 2011, respectively. Years 1-4 were based on the first four films in the franchise — Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. This covered Harry's first four years at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in full LEGO form.

Years 5-7 arrived a year later and covered the final four films — Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 & 2. This was Harry's last year at Hogwarts and his battle against Lord Voldemort.

Also included in the LEGO Harry Potter Collection are the two previously released DC packs including a Character Pack featuring Godric Gryffindor, Harry (Yule Ball), Helga Hufflepuff, Lockhart (Straightjacket), Luna (Lion Head), Peeves, Hermione (Pink Dress), Ron Weasley (Ghoul), Rowena Ravenclaw and Salazar Slytherin, as well as a Spell Pack featuring Cantis, Densaugeo, Ducklifors, Melofors, and Tentaclifors.

Developed by TT Games, the LEGO Harry Potter games are light-hearted and magical action-adventure games featuring puzzle-solving and light combat mechanics. "Players will solve mysteries, learn spells, brew potions, and face off against Lord Voldemort in the ultimate battle between good and evil," the description reads. Of course, TT Games and LEGO's signature humor is also on full display. Here's a quick trailer of when the LEGO Harry Potter Collection launched for Nintendo Switch and Xbox One back in 2018.

Upon release, both games received generally positive reviews, although the scores varied based on platform. While the console and PC versions scored a bit higher, Years 5-7, which also released on numerous handhelds, suffered on the DS and PlayStation Vita. Overall though, the games were largely praised for their music and and whimsical charm coupled with humorous cutscenes. The number of collectibles and hidden secrets also provided great replay value upon completion of the main adventure. As a LEGO game, ti's generally approachable for everyone who has an interest in the Harry Potter series, even if you don't play games regularly.

The remastered compilation is actually developed by Double Eleven, though there shouldn't be a drastic difference in the overall gameplay mechanics. The Collection does enhance both the gameplay and the graphics though with 60 FPS, native 4K resolution, haptic feedback, and high-resolution shadows.

LEGO Harry Potter Collection will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC as a digital title on October 8th for $39.99.

In the meantime, players can still visit the magical world of Harry Potter with Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions. Focusing more on the magical sport of Quidditch, introduced in the books and showcased in the films, you'll be able to soar into the action when it launches on September 3rd on PlayStation 4/5, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, an dPC for the Digital Standard and Deluxe Editions.
