Capcom has recently revealed that the e-Reader cards will be included in the upcoming
Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection, although these will not be included in physical form, but rather in-game in the same fashion that they were included in the
Mega Man Zero Collection for the Nintendo DS.
For those unaware of the e-Reader cards, they were cards that could be read via the Game Boy Advance's e-Reader peripheral — which would add some bonuses to the games they were made for. In
Mega Man Zero 3 and
Mega Man Zero 4, for instance, these would spice things up a bit by changing some of the stages, dialogues, and all kinds of extras that added replay value.
As revealed by the latest entry on the Capcom Unity log, the e-Reader cards will be making a comeback and players will be able to activate them via the game's main menu; modifying aspects of the game in the same way it was done on the Game Boy Advance versions.
Similarly, there was a feature that the developers added in
Mega Man ZX for the Nintendo DS, which allowed players to use their Game Boy Advance copies of
Mega Man Zero 3 or
Mega Man Zero 4 to access a unique challenge mode that featured enemies from the previously mentioned titles. This feature is also being added in the
Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection, so players will get the most out of the game.
While these features were only available on Nintendo consoles — keeping in mind that this is the first time any of the games in the collection are being released on platforms other than Nintendo — Capcom has confirmed that all of them will be included across all platforms that
Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection releases on.
Six games, five heroes, and two series megamerge into one giant collection! Taking legendary Reploids into the far future, join Zero as he battles against the forces of Neo Arcadia, then witness the rise of a new generation looking to carve out their own story. Mega Man Zero / ZX Legacy Collection brings the intense action of Mega Man Zerothrough Mega Man Zero 4 as well as Mega Man ZX and Mega Man ZX Advent to modern platforms.
