Ryu ga Gotoku Studio — a.k.a. Yakuza Studio — has made a very surprsing announcement during the X019 event, as they revealed that three titles in their critically acclaimed Yakuza series will be releasing for Xbox One and Xbox Game Pass.
It is also worth mentioning that
Yakuza titles have never, ever been released on an Xbox onsole; making the release even more important, especially now that Xbox players will eventually have the chance to play every game in the series on their console.
As revealed in the announcement trailer, the three titles are
Yakuza 0,
Yakuza Kiwami, and
Yakuza Kiwami 2, and they are expected to become available for Xbox One and Xbox Game pass early in 2020, although they didn't reveal if all titles will be released on the same day, or exactly when.
With
Yakuza Kiwami 1 & 2 are remakes of the original
Yakuza and
Yakuza 2, while
Yakuza 0 is an origin story that tells the stories of Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima — keeping the essence of the series intact while adding even more layers to the series' lore.
