Shadow of the Tomb Raider brings Lara Croft and her best friend Jonah Maiava down south to take on the Maya apocalypse and explore the jungle, much more dangerous tombs, and even some underwater ones. The game will apparently challenge Lara in new and unexpected ways as she has become a real predator and can use the jungle environment to hide, track, and murder enemies. Lara is going to lines she never intended to cross and the story will be even darker and way more gritty.
Eidos-Montréal has brought together a unique music team to make Shadow of the Tomb Raider one of the most exciting and compelling games in the series. “While we are staying loyal to many of the musical recipes and devices that have made the series so successful over the last 5 years, things have evolved a lot in terms of aesthetics," said Audio and Music director, Rob Bridgett. "As Lara is in a much darker place emotionally, and a more dangerous place physically, the music needs to represent both of these things. The South American jungle and the Maya civilization both play a central role in the instrumentation of the score, and we are also reaching deeper into Lara’s emotional point-of-view.”
The score is being co-composed by Brian D’Oliveira, who previously delivered wonderful soundtracks for Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Tearaway). Together, Rob and Brian have invested countless hours collaborating on the unmistakable sound and textures of these cultures. Both artist will try to put you inside Lara’s head and it sounds like they will create a mesmerizing piece of music. Check it out:
