Although Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was deemed a financial disaster for Warner Bros. Games, Rocksteady continues to deliver on its post-launch content plans. Following two seasons' worth of content, the developer is gearing up to launch the game's third season.
On social media, the studio confirmed that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Season 3 will launch on October 1st. And with it comes a brand new playable character: Lawless, aka Zoey Lawton.
Lawless/Zoey Lawton is the daughter of Deadshot. Rocksteady didn't provide any additional details about Lawless's playstyle, but did share some character art that shows her wearing the Brainiac tech backpack and what looks like an arm cannon. In the comic books, Lawless is skilled in firearms and archery, although her story in the game may differ as this is an Elseworlds version.
Lawless is the third playable character to arrive in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Season 1 saw the addition of the Joker, while Season 2 introduced Mrs. Freeze, a gender-swapped Elseworlds version of Mr. Freeze.
Each season in the game comes with multiple Episodes of content, including new collectibles, skins, and weapons. The highlight, of course, is the new playable character.
A roadmap released a couple of months ago highlighted post-launch content all the way up to Season 4. Each season features a new playable character, so we can expect at least one more to come with Season 4 a few months from now.
Beyond that, we don't know what's in store for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Prior to release, the game was billed as a live-service title, which usually means regularly released post-launch updates with new content for players to enjoy.
Rocksteady is making good on its promise, but seeing as how Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was a commercial flop, it wouldn't be surprising to see post-launch updates end after Season 4 is released. Neither Rocksteady nor Warner Bros. have commented on the future of the game. However, there were reports that staff were laid off at Rocksteady earlier in September.
Anonymous employees claim that the Rocksteady quality assurance team had been cut from 33 members to 15, citing the poor sales of Suicide Squad as the primary reason. Beyond complaints of live-service game mechanics, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League's launch was marred by game-breaking bugs and numerous glitches. It's unclear how halving the quality assurance team will improve this sort of thing moving forward.
