Assassin's Creed: Odyssey is set during the Peloponnesian War between Athens and Sparta. That war took place between 431-404 BC, nearly 400 years before the events of last year's Origins. The fact that Odyssey is a prequel gives Ubisoft a chance to tell the "true" origins of the Assassin's Creed universe as neither the Assassins nor the Templars had officially been formed back then.
According to the website PowerPyx, it takes up to 41 hours to finish the story mode. Apparently, the website's editor "listened to most dialogues but skipped some (especially in side quests)," PowerPyx noted. "If you listen to all dialogues it’s easily 50 hours+. If you skip everything then you can maybe rush it in 30 hours. In those 41 hours I also uncovered the entire map and that alone took 5-6 hours!"
In comparison, the player needs 28 hours to watch the end credits of Assassin's Creed: Origins, 22 hours to beat Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, 17 hours to finish Ubisoft Quebec's last game, Assassin's Creed: Syndicate and 16 hours to complete Assassin's Creed: Unity. It's worth noticing that the campaign is only the beginning of your Odyssey, as the game also features a lot of endgame content such as world bosses and an arena, not to mention the already announced post-launch support.
Take control of your destiny and write your own epic odyssey as you journey to become a legendary Spartan hero. Live incredible adventures in a world where every choice matters. Rejected by your family, you must embark on an adventure from outcast mercenary to legendary Spartan hero to uncover the truth about your past.
Assassin's Creed Odyssey will release on October 5, 2018 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
