Ubisoft doesn't hide the fact that it's hard to like Electronic Arts. One of Far Cry 3's trailers featured a hidden "f*ck EA" message and the recently released Assassin's Creed Odyssey also takes shots at one of the most hated companies in America (and probably the rest of the world). This time, the team from Ubisoft Quebec decided to address the recent Star Wars: Battlefront II loot boxes controversy.
As you remember, Star Wars: Battlefront II featured one of the worst loot crate systems in history, forcing you to grind for up to 40 hours to unlock a new hero without using microtransactions. Back then, EA decided to explain the greedy system and write on Reddit that "the intent is to provide players with a sense of pride and accomplishment for unlocking different heroes."
There's a reason why the comment became the most down-voted comment in Reddit history (with an impressive -677825 score) and Ubisoft implemented a small "pride" Easter-egg in Odyssey as one NPC in the game tells you “you want to pay to win? That's... Aren’t you a warrior? Where’s your honor? Where’s your sense of pride and accomplishment?” after paying him 1500 Drachmae for a token.
