A new music video for Evanescence's Afterlife, has been released and it contains footage from Netflix's recently released animated rock adventure, Devil May Cry.

While Devil May Cry features a ton of nu metal and rock songs from the early 2000s, Afterlife is actually a new song from Evanescence. The band is currently on tour with Halsey and their next show is on May 14th at the  Hollywood Bowl in Hollywood, CA.

Interestingly enough, some of the footage in the music video  is clearly from the show's second season, which was recently confirmed by Netflix.

With season 1 ending with Dante being cryogenically frozen, Netflix has confirmed that a time-skip will occur in season 2, and it seems the demon-hunting hero will be sporting longer hair and fresh look.

In the press statement, series creator Adi Shankar stated, "Our goal wasn’t just to pump out another animated show. My goal is to make one of the best shows on the Netflix platform — period."

And as for his advice to fans for how they should prepare for season 2? "Get hyped."

The first season of Studio Mir's adaptation launched to a 95% approval from critics (7.7 avg) on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite praise for its action, animation, and faithfulness to the games, fan reception has been less enthusiastic.

Common criticisms revolve around character portrayals differing from the game canon, the inclusion of overt political themes, and deviations from established storylines.

Still, Netflix must be pleased with the show's viewership based on the season 2 renewal.

According to certain data metrics, the series garnered 5.3M views in its first four days of streaming.

Developed by Capcom, with its first release coming in 2001 on the PS2, there have been 6 mainline installments in the video game franchise, with the most recent release, Devil May Cry 5, dropping in 2019 on the PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One.

Hopefully the soundtrack will experience a time skip as well or just pick better bands and songs. Not a single one of those bands were the default soundtrack to mine or anyone I grew up with's playthroughs of DMC. Radio friendly NU metal jock rock and RATM's worst song is hardly what I think of when I think DMC, it definitely doesn't pair well with the games. I'd have to tuck and roll out of Adi's car on a road trip if that's his playlist taste and I'm really not picky about my music, but that sounds track is just played out back then still to this day and just bad. No one really thinks Limp Bizkit and poppa roach are good bands who aren't college frat jock types. Cmon now.
