During Star Wars Celebration this weekend, Ubisoft revealed the second story pack for Star Wars Outlaws. Available May 15th, Star Wars: A Pirates Fortune will take players "on an adventure with pirates and lost treasures."
"Embark on a mysterious adventure with Kay and Nix to explore the Khepi system and learn what it takes to be a true leader," Ubisoft teased. "Team up with legendary pirate Hondo Ohnaka and face off against Stinger Tash and her Rokana Raiders as you infiltrate the Khepi Tomb to uncover the secrets and hidden treasures it holds. Along the way, they’ll discover the Miyuki Trade League who offer new rewards for the Trailblazer in exchange for smuggling dangerous goods across the galaxy."
Star Wars: A Pirate's Fortune will be free for those who already own the Star Wars Outlaws Season Pass or available for $14.99 as a standalone purchase. The Season Pass was included with the Gold ($109.99) and Ultimate ($129.99) Editions of the game, but can also be purchased on its own for $39.99 for those who only bought the Standard and Deluxe Editions. Ubisoft is currently hosting a sale on the game, offering 50% off the Deluxe and Gold Editions.
In adition to the story expansion, Ultimate and Deluxe Edition owners will also receive the Naboo Nobility and Desert Nomad cosmetic packs. Furthermore, a free TItle Update on May 15th will also gift all players cosmetic items inspired by the Star Wars: Skeleton Crew series, for Nix and the speeder.
Released last year, Star Wars Outlaws is an open-world action-adventure game developed by Massive Entertainment. Set between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, the story follows Kay Vess, a young scoundrel who takes on an high stakes heist mission to secure her freedom and the means to start a new life, along with her companion Nix.
The game received mostly positive reviews from critics, sitting in the mid-70s on review aggregator Metacritic. The game was mostly criticiiczed for its lack of original ideas and numerous glitches and technical issues at launch (many of which have since been addressed). Star Wars Outlaws ultimately failed to meet Ubisoft's sales expectations, which leaves us to wonder what will come next after this second story pack is released.
For those who were maybe holding off on the game, scared away by its early technical issues, Ubisoft is offering a chance to jump in and try it out. A free demo is now available across consoles and PC, that gives players three hours to jump in and explore this high-risk, high-reward lifestyle.
