Will Scalebound Fly Again? Bayonetta Creator Hideki Kamiya Wants To Chat With New Xbox CEO Asha Sharma

The 2017 cancellation of Scalebound was one of the biggest blows to the Xbox One console, but could the Platinum Games adventure title find a second life?

Once upon a time, Platinum Games'  Scalebound was going to become a flagship, exclusive title for the Xbox One console.

But the game had a famously difficult development cycle that ultimately resulted in Microsoft deciding to pull the plug.

But that was many years ago, and there's new leadership in place at Xbox and technology has come a long way.  As such, could Microsoft decide to do the unthinkable and bring Scalebound back to life?

Speaking to VGC, Bayonetta creator  Hideki Kamiya stated that he's yet to talk to new Xbox CEO Asha Sharma but he's open to the idea, commenting, "Well, no, but now’s my opportunity to once again say that if they want to do it, let’s make it happen! [Clovers president Kento Koyama] is on board too."

Kamiya has since moved on from Platinum Games in recent years but revealed that he recently had a reunion over dinner with some of the development team that worked on Scalebound.

"Obviously, there were some tough times as well, but the fact that people still look back on that time with a lot of fun is something that I find very gratifying as the director of the project,"  he commented. "Of course, it’s very unfortunate that the project was unable to see the light of day ultimately, and that is something that even now I still very strongly desire to be able to see through if it’s all possible, and I’m being one hundred percent serious when I say that."

He went on to add, "I strongly believe that if you want something strongly enough, you eventually find a way to make it happen."

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has not publicly responded or said anything about Scalebound, but with this latest interview, it seems like it's only a matter of time.
