With the release of Assassin's Creed Odyssey, the fanbase was divided on whether this new direction for the franchise was worth following or deciding it was time to hang the hood up. Ubisoft seems to have picked up on that vibe with the announcement of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, a sprawling Viking adventure that takes place in a point of history that the majority of the world may not be entirely aware of.

While developing the game, the creators took careful note of what has worked in the past and what didn't. As players, we get the most refined experience that mixes what makes the Assassin's Creed franchise so important along with this new RPG style of gameplay. What came of that is already looking like one of the biggest releases for the franchise since Assassin's Creed Origins

According to a Ubisoft press release, huge numbers of players have been turning out for the game, thanks to the added boost of the same-day release of the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Numerically, the number of players that are actively playing the game has, in fact, doubled since the release of Odyssey with only two days after release! Ubisoft co-founder and CEO Yves Guillemont stated; “We are humbled by the reception from the players and extremely proud of what our teams have accomplished with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which builds on the amazing success of its predecessors, in the context of COVID-19, shipping Assassin’s Creed Valhalla on no less than seven platforms is an incredible achievement for all of the teams involved around the world. We are excited to greet players on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 with a game that unleashes the power of the new hardware. This paves the way for an exciting holiday, with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla set to be one of this season’s biggest hits.”

With the trend of growth looking fantastic for the game, it is a pretty safe assumption that these numbers will continue to rise as fans raid, pillage, and assassinate in the world of Assassin's Creed Valhalla. We would love to hear some of your experiences in the comments below!

Set in 873 AD, the game recounts a fictional story of the Viking invasion of Britain. The player controls Eivor, a Viking raider who becomes embroiled in the conflict between the Brotherhood of Assassins and the Templar Order.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is out now for Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X!
