There are two things you can count on in the video game industry. You can expect a Call of Duty and an Assassin's Creed game every November. This year, Ubisoft might be breaking their yearly tradition, one that has stood since 2009. This year, they may choose not to release an Assassin's Creed game (other than the chronicles series) until 2017. At least that is according to sources that have spoken to Kotaku, whom have been pretty much right on when it comes to the Assassin's Creed franchise. The game would be set in Egypt with the code name Empire.
This is great news in the wake of Assassin's Creed Unity and Assassin's Creed Syndicate. Unity suffered from a terrible launch and Syndicate was alright, but the news that we won't see an Assassin's Creed game until 2017 is fantastic news! It shows gamers that Ubisoft isn't interested in only pumping out games year after year for money. It shows that they somewhat care about their craft. It will allow the developers to really polish and add new life to a franchise that has been slowly dying over the past few years.
For those that may be disappointed that there will be no game this year, you can look to Ubisofts Assassin's Creed Chronicles. Ubisoft also recently registered the website domain “assassinscreedcollection.com,” which may be a collection of older games. Also, 2016 brings an extra treat with the Assassin's Creed movie launches on December 21, 2016.
