Assassin's Creed titles have always been pretty straight forward in terms of how the story unfolds, following a specific pattern in order to allow the player to play through the game from A to B.
While there is absolutely nothing intrinsically wrong with a game being linear, in regards to the story, it's interesting that Ubisoft is shaking things up a little bit with
Assassin's Creed Odyssey—which focuses a lot more on choices than previous entries in the series.
Assassin's Creed Odyssey already begins with the player choosing to play as either Alexios or Kassandra; both being pretty much the same character, but it is a choice nonetheless. These choices will give players more options when approaching certain situations, and the game seems to be playing a lot with the in-game choices players make, and their outcome—making things a lot more interesting by offering players different paths of action for them to take.
The latest video for
Assassin's Creed Odyssey shows us that every choice we make in the game can have very different consequences; some of which may not be as obvious but will definitely cause a domino effect later on.
