Assassin's creed is a successful franchise, both economically and critically. However, it is understandble how the games might feel quite a bit recycled or stale. They all use the same formula and design.
Ubisoft, the franchise's developer, brainstorrmed and came up with Origins last year as well as Odyssey this year. However, the developer just revealed that there are no plans on making a new game for the upcoming year. In an interview with Gamespot, Ubisoft's CEO, Yves Guillemot shared more.
"On Assassin's, we had a game [in 2018] and we have one this year, but we are not going to have a full-fledged Assassin's next year. It's just because the team were working separately, so we have two games now, one year after the other. But next year you're not going to have a fully fledged one."
"What you'll have is lots of content coming on [Assassin's Creed Odyssey]. The team really want to give, on a regular basis, some new possibilities for play, so when you get [Odyssey] this year, you're going to get in for a couple of years, actually."
It is understandable why Ubisoft is stepping down from making another game next year. If devlopers rush to make games every single year, the quality drop might be significant or noticeable.
What do you think on this move? Were you expecting another Assassin's Creed game next year?
