Rocksteady, the studio behind the Batman: Arkham video game series (bar one), has officially announced that they're working on another video game based on a DC Comics property. This time around, Rocksteady is taking on Suicide Squad. This property is best known for featuring in the 2016 movie of the same name, as well as the upcoming soft reboot of said movie.
The gist of the Suicide Squad is that they're a team of criminals assembled by the government to perform less than clean missions. Each member of the squad is implanted with an explosive chip which can be remotely detonated from a distance should one of the members attempt to escape or decline to participate in the mission.
To be clear, this isn't the DC Comics project that WB. Montreal has been teasing for almost a year now — more on that here. That one is to do with Batman, and may well be a continuation of Rocksteady's Batman: Arkham games. These DC Comics video games were supposedly going to be officially revealed during WB Games' own E3 conference but the event itself was cancelled.
Instead, the below tweet by Rocksteady (@RocksteadyGames) serves as the official announcement. It features a teaser poster which depicts Superman from behind. However, many speculate that it could actually be Bizarro (a twisted clone of Superman). Beyond this poster, Rocksteady didn't reveal much other than that they will be presenting at DC Fandome on August 22nd.
Expect to see a full reveal of Rocksteady's Suicide Squad game there — and stay tuned to Gamefragger as we will be sure to cover it all.
