Dragon Ball is one of the most popular anime series of all time—no doubt about that—and, ever since its inception, the show has seen more than a few video game adaptations.
Dragon Ball games have been as varied as the number of transformations these characters go through on the show, going from classic role-playing games, to action, sidescrollers, and fighting games.
One of the latest video game series based on the
Dragon Ball anime/manga is
Dragon Ball Xenoverse, which released in February of 2015, that allowed players—for the first time ever—to create their own avatars by selecting race, gender, abilities, and even their own mentors; thus allowing players to learn their mentor's techniques from the anime. All of this on top of it being a 3D fighting game that really made players feel like they were part of the
Dragon Ball universe.
Needless to say,
Dragon Ball Xenoverse became a hit almost instantly that made the developer, Bandai Namco, release a sequel in the form of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, which came out 2 years after the original. While the game didn't improve that many aspects compared with the first title, it was still very well received. The developer team has even stated that they plan on keep supporting
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 by adding new content, including more characters.
Today,
Bandai Namco has announced that the
Dragon Ball Xenoverse series has managed to sell a very respectable 10 million units worldwide, accross both games. They, once again, reiterate that they will continue supporting the game and will be adding more free updates, and making other adjustments as they go along. The company thinks that adding new characters to
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 attracts new customers. They also mention that the Nintendo Switch version of the game paved way for a new demographic due to its popularity, having players in their teens and twenties enjoying the game, as well.
Developed to fully utilize the power of current generation gaming consoles and PCs, DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 2 builds upon the highly popular DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE with enhanced graphics that will further immerse players into the largest and most detailed Dragon Ball world ever developed.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is available for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC.
