Elden Ring: Nightreign Top Mistakes to Avoid If You Want to Survive

Elden Ring: Nightreign takes the FromSoftware formula and twists it into a roguelike nightmare, where players face an ever-closing circle, nightly boss fights, and an ultimate showdown against the Nightlord. To thrive in this punishing format, you’ll need more than just Soulsborne instincts you’ll need strategy, timing, and the ability to avoid early mistakes. Here’s what not to do.

Ignoring Flasks Early

Nightreign gives you only one type of Flask HP recovery and starts you with just three. While you gain more after certain milestones (like defeating the second night boss), you should actively seek Churches to stock up. Don’t enter later nights or the Nightlord fight with not enough heals or only a few of them. You will need every last bit that you can get.

Wasting Time on Sorcerer’s Rises

Puzzles guarding Sorcerer’s Rises often have no combat, just complex riddles and hidden mechanics. The rewards are enticing but rarely worth the time investment, especially if you’re on a timer. Cut your losses if you’re stumped or have do not know how to do them.

Skipping Regular Enemies

Every level matters in Nightreign, with stat boosts significantly improving survivability. Bosses drop Runes, but so do regular enemies, and farming areas like The Castle can get you to level 15 faster. Don’t ignore minor foes just because they aren’t flashy or too easy to kill.

Forgetting Smithing Stones

Your weapon’s power can make or break your run. Collect Smithing Stones [1] and [2] from mines to upgrade your gear. With enough effort, even Common weapons can become powerful Rare tools of destruction.

Failing to Use Relic Rites

Relics grant passive buffs that last the whole run, but they must be assigned to a vessel to take effect. Double-check your setup each run and sell old relics for Murk to upgrade your build potential.

Leaving the Circle

Straying outside the circle drains your HP and disables healing. Even if you're tempted to chase a drop or recover lost Runes, don’t risk ruining your run. Items and enemies persist across days come back when it’s safe.

Ignoring Character Scaling

Each Nightfarer has unique stats and scaling. Learn them. A character like Executor has high Arcane scaling for Bleed builds, while Revenant excels in both Faith and Intelligence. The Visual Codex helps you plan properly.

Fighting World Bosses Too Early

World bosses are brutal and roam freely. Defeating them early wastes precious time and usually ends in death. Wait until you're stronger and better equipped to handle their damage.

Delaying Shifting Earth Events

After the first Nightlord, you'll encounter Shifting Earth events new zones with unique enemies and rewards. These are lengthy challenges meant to take a full in-game day, so don’t attempt them with just a few minutes left.

Not Using or Responding to Pins (Communication)

Communication in Nightreign is pin-based. Drop pins on the map to mark plans, and acknowledge teammates’ pins by holding the right stick. It’s the best way to coordinate with random players.

With these tips in mind, you’ll avoid the most common pitfalls in Elden Ring: Nightreign and stand a far better chance of surviving each night. Remember: this isn’t just Soulsborne with new paint it’s an entirely new beast. Now go out there and slay some Nightlords!
