Elden Ring Nightreign feature a total of eight playable classes at launch. However, only six of them are available to play as immediately: Wylder, Raider, Guardian, Ironeye, Executor, and Recluse. The remaining two classes -- the Duchess and Revenant -- must first be unlocked.

The good news is unlocking either class shouldn't take too long. In this aricle, we're focusing on the Duchess, a nimble fighter that specializes in stealth and prefer daggers.

Unlocking the Duchess in Elden Ring NIghtreign isn't particularly hard, but it does require you progress through the game. Or at least encounter the first Nightlord, Tricephalos, also known as Gladius, Beast of Night.

Tricephalos is a massive, three-headed wolf and the final boss of the Tricephalos Expedition. You'll encounter it after surviving three in-game days. It's also where you'll receive The Old Pocketwatch -- which you'll need to unlock the Duchess -- as a reward.

Defeating Tricephalos, which is required to progress further in the game, will reward you with The Old Pocketwatch. However, you don't necessarily have to beat him in order to get it. The Old Pocketwatch can also be rewarded as a random drop by simply completing runs of the Tricephalos Expedition, so even if you fail and are unable to kill the Beast of Night, you still have a chance to unlock the Duchess.

Once you obtain The Old Pocketwatch, retur to the Roundtable Hold and speak with the Priestess NPC in the white cloack. Choose to give her the Pocketwatch (don't worry, you get to keep it). Once you choose to give it to her, you'll watch a short cutscene in which the Priestess will reveal herself to be the Duchess. At this point, the Duchess is permanently unlocked and available to select as your character.

The Duchess can best be described as a rogue-like class. She relies on stealth and swift movement to defeat her enemies.

Her passive ability, Magnificent Poise, allows her to dodge and attack swiftely with reduced stamina cost. Her Character SKill, Restage, Reapplys the last few seconds of team damage to enemies, while her Ultimate Art, FInale, obscures nearby allies to hide from foes.

Elden Ring Nightreign is a roguelike action RPG set in the same universe as FromSoftware's critically acclaimed Elden Ring. Players embark on Expeditions across Limveld, a procedurally generated and corrupted version of Limgrave, where they must survive for three-days before they can encounter the Nightlord boss at the end. Elden Ring Nightreign is designed as a co-op experience for up to three players, although it is possible to play solo.
