Grinding Gear Games has officially unveiled Dawn of the Hunt, the first major content update for Path of Exile 2 since it entered Early Access. The update goes live at 9 PM CET on April 4th and brings a wave of fresh content, including a new class, additional ascendancy options, new endgame maps, and significant mechanical overhauls. Here is the short gameplay trailer for the new class, The Huntress.
The Huntress: A Hybrid Melee & Ranged Powerhouse
Leading the charge in Dawn of the Hunt is the newly added Huntress class. Wielding both spear and buckler, the Huntress thrives on fluid combat that shifts between ranged spear throws and close-quarters brutality. Her kit emphasizes motion and precision—parry incoming strikes to stun enemies, disengage for a quick escape, and follow up with powerful spear combos. She can even summon elemental attacks and chain together some of the longest combos seen in Path of Exile 2 so far.
The developers also released a whopping 39 minute video highlighting a small taste of all the content that will be coming with Dawn Of The Hunt. Check it out and all the current details about the next chapter of Path Of Exile 2 below:
Here is a few bullet points of what you can expect in the next piece of content for Path Of Exile 2.
Five New Ascendancy Classes
Players will also be able to explore five new Ascendancy classes:
-
Ritualist (Huntress): Uses forbidden blood magic to plague her foes.
-
Amazon (Huntress): An elite elemental hunter with unmatched precision.
-
Lich (Witch): Sacrifices life force to master chaos and undeath.
-
Smith of Kitava (Warrior): A weapon-forging powerhouse wielding the fire of destruction.
-
Tactician (Mercenary): A militaristic enforcer with battlefield control and strategy.
New Skills, Gems, and Crafting Tools
Over 100 new Support Gems and dozens of new skills are being introduced, including Raise Spectre and Summon Rhoa Mount. The latter lets you ride into battle atop a powerful beast—just don’t take too much damage, or you’ll be dismounted. The update also adds 20 new crafting runes and socketable mods that expand gear customization.
Endgame Expansions and New Maps
Eight new maps are being added to challenge seasoned players, including The Fractured Lake and The Phaaryl Megaliths. Unique Strongboxes, each with complex mechanics and potent loot, now appear throughout the game.
The Corruption mechanic returns with force, introducing Corrupted Essences and Corrupted Nexuses, where players will battle monstrous new bosses. Cleansed versions of maps offer fresh challenges and rewards.
Face Rogue Exiles and Battle Smart AI
New Rogue Exile enemies, modeled after player characters, will appear in the world. They use real items and skills and will actively dodge, evade, and counter player tactics. Defeat them, and you can claim their loot.
Streamlined Endgame
Tower mechanics have been overhauled. Though fewer in number, towers are now far more impactful, and can apply multiple modifiers. Bosses exclusive to towers now offer even more incentive to climb higher tiers.
Overall this is a huge chunk of content that will have things for players of all classes and types to enjoy! You won't want to miss it on April 4th.
